Pre-Course Requirements

There are no pre-course requirements for this course as it is designed for beginners looking to better their knowledge. Whether you choose to study with us in the classroom or online, on completion you will have key skills that will aid in your next sailing adventure!

Our advice is to pick up the RYA Day Skipper Handbook and have a read through so you are familiar with some of the vocabulary used on yachts.

Course Syllabus

The RYA Day Skipper Ultimate is our very own “one-stop” package that will take you from enthusiastic beginner to confident Day Skipper in one inclusive course.

What to Bring

Sailors are exposed to the elements and must always be prepared for 4 seasons. Due to limited storage on board, we always recommend you bring lightweight clothing to suit all possible weather scenarios. Key things to bring include;

  • Sun Protection 

  • Sun Glasses 

  • Boat Friendly Shoes

  • Passport 

  • Shorts & T-shirts 

  • Light Trousers 

  • Bathing Equipment 

  • Lightweight Jumper or Jacket 

  • Personal Care Equipment (Shampoo, Deodorant, prescription Medicines)

  • Anti Sea Sickness Tablets - especially if not an experienced sailor.

Post Course

After being awarded your Day Skipper Certificate, with some more sailing miles under your belt you will be ready to take on the 5 day RYA Coastal Skipper course! As a coastal skipper, you will be able to sail up to 60 nautical miles offshore day or night.
